INTERVIEW WITH NEST
MRR : Hello. how are you there ?
NEST : Doing good, trying to make the best of things!
MRR : Can you explain about this "Nest" Band ?
NEST : Yes, the idea behind this band was to make it different from all of my other bands, but still heavy at the same time. Being in different bands that play different genres keeps things fun and fresh for me
MRR : What genre of music do you carry now and influenced by?
NEST : I’d say Nest is more “post-hardcore” maybe than anything? I’ve heard us compared to “sub-pop” bands and Helmet also, but really it’s all just metal to me
MRR : Tell us a little about the personnel at Nest In your opinion, how is the development of the type of music in the genre that you currently bring, especially in your country? and how far has the music activity been there during this covid pandemic?
NEST : Jenna is on bass and Xander on drums. They both do a great job of “spicing” up the songs. They are also both great band mates as they are always on time and ready to jam. We practice weekly so it just gets tighter and tighter, so it’s been a blast! As far as metal in the USA, it’s bigger than ever. I hear metal songs on the NFL football games and TV commercials more often now. It’s became more of an acceptable form of music I think, it’s taken more seriously now. The pandemic has caused countless problems of course, and having to adapt hasn’t been easy, but it’s necessary
MRR : Your views on the circulating issues related to the Covid 19 problem
NEST : I’m glad that we are almost to the point where everyone thinks it’s real, so that’s a good start to finding an end to it.
MRR : What's the most difficult thing in your opinion while in the NEST band
NEST : Just getting people to give it a chance, there is so much new music out there you can’t listen to it all
MRR : Why do you call your band "Nest" ?
NEST : Nests can be beautiful (a birds nest with the mother feeding her young) or dirty (a rats nest) and I wanted the band to be able to have both moments in the music
MRR : Do you also have a music community for the genre that you carry now ?
NEST : We are trying to find our niche, but I like being able to play with all genres of metal, brutal death metal shows have been just as good for us as playing with bands more our style
MRR : What activities do vou often do every week for Nest ?
NEST : Sunday is practice, and during the week I’m usually writing or recording. Booking the shows and promotion online takes up a little time also
MRR : Does Nest itself alreadv have an Album? How much ? How is the recording process itself?
NEST : 3 albums and a live album are available to stream everywhere, we just finished tracking a split with another band, that should be announced soon. I usually write and record the songs and then present them to the band. They can then “spice up” the songs like I mentioned before by adding their own touches
MRR : The record label that houses Nest ?
NET : I’ve released everything myself, but am open to offers. These days labels just feel like a glorified bank to me. They’ll loan you money to record, but you pay it back at some point. They’ll help you get taken more seriously and promote for you, but they’ll also take a cut of your profits. So far I’m happy without one for Nest but I’m not against it.
MRR : Have you ever heard of a metal band from Indonesia? who do you know? What are your views on music in Indonesia. especiallv metal!
NEST : I’ve heard Burgerkill and others. I’ve had many messages over the years from music fans in Indonesia, I know you take it very seriously!!!
MRR : What are your own hopes for music?
NEST : I just hope the show continues to go on, people need art and live music.
MRR : Ever heard of Medanrockradio ? what do you think ?
NEST : I have now, I hope the best for you
MRR : Can give a little motivation to Medanrockradio listeners.
NEST : Try to stay positive and keep metal alive!!!
Thank you for giving a little time and opportunity to Medanrockradio
